Portillo and Laguna del Inca

From Santiago, the journey heads into the impressive landscapes of the Andes. Following Route 60 through the Aconcagua Valley, the road climbs towards the mountains and the famous Ruta Los Caracoles, a spectacular series of hairpin bends winding through the steep slopes of the Andes.

One of the first highlights is Salto del Soldado, a striking rock formation surrounded by an old Chilean legend. Further into the mountains, the landscape gradually opens into a dramatic high-altitude panorama.

At Portillo, one of South America's most historic ski resorts, rugged peaks and alpine scenery surround the distinctive yellow hotel overlooking the mountains. Nearby lies Laguna del Inca, a striking turquoise lake enclosed by towering Andean peaks and one of the most memorable landscapes of central Chile.

The journey then returns through the Aconcagua Valley towards Santiago. Depending on the season and the day's itinerary, there is also time for scenic stops and a picnic surrounded by the spectacular mountain landscape.
