The evening begins with an introduction to the culture, history and culinary traditions of Rapa Nui. Presented in the native Rapa Nui language and English, the “Te Ra Ai” experience brings together stories of the island and the Polynesian peoples with music, dance and traditional cuisine. After arrival, dinner is prepared in the traditional way in an Umu, an earthen oven. While the food is being prepared, there is time to take in the atmosphere and learn more about the island’s culinary traditions. The meal is then served together with drinks. The highlight of the evening is the traditional dance and folkloric performance by Te Ra Ai.
